Testing of all types of Transformer

The transformer, as the name suggests is for transforming power from higher voltage to a lower voltage and vice-versa Testing of transformers is more important than many people realize, and whenever CT or PT testing is conducted,it’s important to ensure that technicians use the correct transformer testing equipment to ensure that all electrical, mechanical, and thermal standards are being met.

For each different type of transformer, the inspector should conduct the specific recommended tests to ensure efficient and safe inspection and operation. Today we’ll be covering four of these methods so that you can have a better idea of the most common testing transformers procedures.

Transformer Field Services includes, We offer on-site inspection, testing, maintenance, oil processing, relocating, and repair services for transformers and associated substation equipment. These services are performed by skilled and experienced transformer specialists, using tools and equipment specifically suited for the work. All work is arranged, scheduled, and coordinated through our Field Service Operations Manager, who serves as your contact to ensure the work is accomplished within your timeline and budget. And as Doble clients, we have access to the largest transformer test results database in the world for comparing your transformers to others of the same size, manufacturer, and vintage.

Erection, testing and commissioning of new transformers. Limars has extensive experience in erection and commissioning of all types of transformers. We have a separate segment for erection and commissioning of large transformers. Combination of highly skilled site technicians and modern handling equipments enhances the speed and efficiency of this vital operation which includes erection of fittings and accessories, evacuation of main transformer tank, oil filling under vacuum and pre-commissioning tests of transformer.

Transformer Oil Filtration. Transformer oil filtration is carried out with oil filter machine of adequate capacity. Our mobile oil filtration plant is designed to remove dissolved moisture, dirt, air and other gases from the transformer oil.

This two stage plant operates on the principle of Low Temperature and High Vacuum. Unfiltered oil is taken in to the system through t he inlet valve. Then the oil is pumped to the system through positive displacement pump. Preliminary filters protect the pump by entering solid and magnetic particles upto 1 mm size. The oil is heated up to 60°C. After heating the oil passes through the cartridge filters where the particles up to 5 microns are filtered. Then the oil is passed through a specially designed vacuum chamber, where the moisture, air and other gases are extracted from the oil. The vacuum chamber is designed in such a way that the oil is spread out and is allowed to fall by gravity over the media inside, forming a thin film of oil providing a large surface area exposed to vacuum. With this exposure, the dissolved moisture and gases are evacuated to improve the insulating properties of transformer oil
